The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Rural General Practitioner to become the Lead GP at our long-established practice in Parkes NSW. Our medical centre has been servicing the Parkes community for well over 50 years and is AGPAL accredited, with a wide range of services available including women’s health, skin cancer medicine, children’s health, minor surgeries, podiatry and chronic disease management.

Ochre Health is one of Australia’s leading General Practice organisations. Founded in 2002 by Dr Hamish Meldrum and Dr Ross Lamplugh in the NSW outback town of Bourke, Ochre is the only General Practice organisation in all MMM areas, from metro to remote Australia. Ochre now supports over 450 doctors, including 90 registrars.

  • Be a senior clinical leader and take ownership of clinical governance
  • Involvement in new doctor induction program
  • Delivery of better health outcomes for the community
  • Mentoring and supervision of registrars and medical students
  • Leading by example in supporting preventative health initiatives, CDM and health innovations and ensuring the overall quality of healthcare in the practice

Life in Parkes

Parkes is a rural town in central New South Wales which boasts a lively, contemporary atmosphere and a diverse range of local attractions which make the town a major tourist destination. Parkes is an important location for the Australian scientific community, as it is home to the CSIRO Parkes Observatory, as well as the iconic CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope (“the Dish”).

The adjoining Visitor Discovery Centre is popular with tourists travelling through central New South Wales, eager to learn about astronomy and Australia’s role in space exploration, and visit the main feature of the classic Australian comedy film “The Dish.”

Suitability

  • Specialist Registration with AHPRA
  • Proficient with common general practice conditions
  • Experience as a Senior/Lead GP highly desirable
