Dr John completed his medical studies at University College London (UCL), where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2002.

After graduating, Dr John embarked on a diverse medical career in the UK and Australia that, over the past 18 years, has involved studying and working in heart surgery, dermatology, plastic surgery, contraception, STDs, emergency medicine, trauma and many more medical specialities.

This extensive experience has led him to become qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), as well as a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and a Member of The Royal College of Surgeons (UK).

After arriving in Australia in 2008, Dr John and his wife, Jenny, were drawn to the lifestyle that ‘island’ medicine has to offer, leading him to become the principle GP on several remote islands, including King Island (2009-10), Kalbarri WA (2010-11), Flinders Island and Cape Barren Island (2011-2017) and Norfolk Island (2017-2019).

Dr John enjoys his time at Ochre Medical Centre Flinders Island, as he likes being involved in running the small hospital and providing emergency care to both the Flinders Island community and the Indigenous community on Cape Barren Island.

In his spare time, Dr John enjoys diving for abalone and crayfish, cooking, surfing and producing art.
