Talk to your doctor today about your risk and eligibility for a Heart Health Check

Heart disease is Australia’s leading cause of death, but it’s often preventable.

  1. An Australian has a heart attack or stroke every 4 minutes
  2. Over 2.5 million Australians are at high risk within the next 5 years
  3. More than half have no previous heart condition
  4. There are over 1,600 hospitalisations every day

Despite these statistics, many heart attacks and strokes can be prevented.

What can you do?

Start by understanding your risk and keep up with regular check-ups with your GP.  Your GP may suggest a Heart Health Check.

Heart Health Checks

Ochre Health and the Heart Foundation recommend speaking with your GP about a Heart Health Check,  a 20–30 minute consultation to assess your risk of heart attack or stroke.

What’s included?

Your GP will:

  1. Assess your risk factors (e.g. smoking, cholesterol, family history)
  2. Check your blood pressure and overall health
  3. Provide advice on lifestyle changes (diet, exercise)
  4. Prescribe medication if needed
  5. Develop a personalised heart health plan
