Dr Upcher graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2008 with a Bachelor of Biotechnology before going on to complete his doctoral thesis in the field of chromosome biology at the University of Oxford.
He undertook postgraduate medicine at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2016 and spent the next two years working in hospitals in the Southwest of Sydney.
He has since happily returned to Hobart with his young family and enjoys the diversity of medicine seen in primary care.
