Dr Bastian Seidel

Dr Bastian Seidel has been a dedicated GP at Ochre Health Huonville for over 15 years, caring for patients and families across the Huon Valley through every stage of life. He brings a truly international perspective to his care, having studied medicine in Germany and South Africa and completed postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, the United States and Hong Kong before making Australia home in 2007.
Bastian is a Clinical Professor at the University of Tasmania, Chair of the Ochre Health Research Network, and a former President of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He holds a research doctorate in paediatric immunology and has published widely, including peer-reviewed articles and books spanning general medicine, health services research and medical education.
His clinical interests include preventative medicine, cardiovascular health, men’s health and complex chronic medical conditions.
Passionate about training the next generation of doctors, Bastian supervises GP registrars and medical students, as well as PhD and MD candidates through the University of Tasmania.
