Dr Vince O’Neill is passionate about the delivery of high-standard, comprehensive and personalised medical care to rural and remote communities. His special interests in the clinic include travel medicine and lifestyle medicine, and he also regularly provides rural emergency and inpatient medical services. He has developed a rural generalist skill set through experience and training in a broad range of medical specialties, and has additional experience and keen interests in medical education, expedition medicine and international development.
Dr O’Neill holds a graduate medical degree and a postgraduate certification in child health from the University of Sydney, along with formal postgraduate training in rural generalist anaesthesia, a Diploma of Mountain Medicine, a Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, and an honours bachelor degree in biology. He is currently nearing completion of Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, and thus qualification as a Consultant Rural Generalist.
He is originally from Canada, and has worked and studied in various parts of Australia as well as Nepal, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Tanzania, Ireland, the UK, and the US before finding a home amongst the beautiful bluffs and alluring shores of Tasmania. Outside of work he thoroughly enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends, hiking, camping, climbing, diving, martial arts, various other sports, learning languages and eating awesome food.
