Our practice is participating in MyMedicare – a new program which started on 1 October that strengthens the relationship between you as a patient, your doctor and your care team. Benefits include funding for longer telehealth appointments, more regular consultations and a wider range of care services. It also enables better communication between hospitals and your doctor regarding your care. We encourage early enrolment to be eligible for benefits as soon as they are available. Doctors practicing at Ochre are independent practitioners and they now bill privately. This means patients will be charged a fee that is higher than the Medicare rebate for their consultation, in other words the Medicare rebate patients receive after paying their bill will only cover part of the total cost. These billing arrangements apply to both face-to-face and telehealth (video and phone) consultations. DVA patients, health assessments and chronic disease plans will continue to be bulk-billed, while local residents who are under 18 years old, pension cardholders, health care cardholders or students with valid identification will be eligible for discounted fees. We are making this change to ensure the high standards of care we provide to all of our patients can be maintained.
