Dr Thanu (Thunuja) Athulathmudali

Dr Athulathmudali is a considerate GP who is passionate about providing patient-centered holistic care. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and loves all aspects of general practice but has a few special interests.

Dr Athulathmudali graduated in Sri Lanka in 2008 and has since completed 10 years of overseas clinical experience in general medicine, primary care, intensive care and gynecology. She moved to Australia in 2018 with her family and spent 4 years in Campbelltown, Camden and Bowral hospitals as a registrar in emergency medicine, general medicine and pediatrics. She then started her career as a GP, with her first position in Goulburn. She cherished her opportunities as a country GP, and has now moved to Canberra.

She has a special interest in pediatrics and the care of young adolescents, women’s health, diabetes, heart health, and preventive care. Dr Athulathmudali is also versed in psychology and mental health. She has completed Focused Psychological Strategies skills training with RACGP and would like to broaden her skills in this field.

When not at work she loves to spend time in nature, tending to her garden, cooking and baking. She is passionate about mindfulness and awareness meditation and has spent a lot of time in volunteer counseling for victims with terminal illnesses, and PTSD.
