Dr Simon Menelaws

MA, MBChB

Simon was born and raised in Scotland, prior to travelling and living internationally for two years working for an NGO. He read English as an undergraduate prior to deciding to become a doctor. He graduated from medical school in Scotland 2010 and spent his two junior doctor years working in Edinburgh. In 2012 he emigrated to Australia and spent two years working in a tertiary level emergency department in Adelaide before relocating to the Sunshine Coast where he worked in psychiatry for nearly five years prior to commencing training with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2020 to become a GP. He has also worked for federal government as a medical advisor, and in a Big 4 consulting firm. He is currently on the fellowship pathway.

He lives with his partner, two children, one dog, two cats, and four chickens (numbers vary depending on the foxes) on 2.5 acres in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. He enjoys whacking a tennis ball, yoga, working out, reading, writing, and eating curry. He is studying a dual Master of Public Health and Master of Health Management and Leadership in all his spare time.
