Michelle Summersgill
Michelle is a graduate of the University of South Africa (UNISA) with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology and is a registered psychologist with the Psychologist Board of Australia. She started her internship as a psychologist with Mackay Division of General Practice in 2006, was Clinical Lead with Northern Australia Primary Health and then in private practice with HMM Health in the Whitsundays before moving to Grafton GP Super Clinic in 2017.
Michelle works with adolescents over the age of 16 and adults with mild to moderate mental health conditions, she uses focused psychological strategies including psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Motivational Interviewing to treat:
- Anxiety disorders including social anxiety and panic attacks,
- Depressive disorders, depression and low mood
- Stress management
- Anger management
- Grief and loss counselling
- Sleep difficulties
- Milder presentations of eating disorders
She is a Board Approved Supervisor with Australian Practitioners Regulation Board (AHPRA), is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and continues to build on her training and knowledge, engaging regularly in training courses. Michelle loves spending time with family and friends, reading and bushwalking.
