Dr Tim Andrewartha, born and raised in Hobart, Tasmania, attended the University of Tasmania for medical school from 2009 to 2013. Progressing through his residency from PGY1 to PGY3 at the Royal Hobart Hospital, he pursued further education, obtaining a diploma in Palliative Medicine in 2018 and achieving fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019.
In 2017, Dr Andrewartha transitioned to General Practice in Northwest Tasmania, seeking opportunities in small-town healthcare after relocating from Hobart. Alongside his GP work, he pursued a Rural Generalist Fellowship and completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Tasmania in 2023. Since 2020, he has also engaged in part-time work as a Rural Generalist for the Northwest Specialist Palliative Care Service.
His professional interests span various facets of rural general practice, with particular emphasis on palliative care, cardiovascular/metabolic diseases, men’s health, minor skin procedures, and small hospital care. Beyond medicine, Dr Andrewartha enjoys pursuits such as road and mountain biking, ocean ski paddling, and playing the guitar.
