Dr Michael Fox

Dr Michael Fox
MBBS, BBioMedSc, BPhysio, FRACGP, Cert ATNLP
Hailing from Queensland, Dr Michael Fox initially graduated from the University of Queensland as a physiotherapist in 1986, continuing to work locally in the field for 20 years. He then made the switch to general practice, completing his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in 2010. Living in Launceston at the time, Dr Fox worked as a GP in the area while doing locums to St Helens to assist the rural doctors in the region.
In June 2020, Dr Fox decided to return to St Helens as a permanent doctor, after falling in love with the area during his locum visits. His physiotherapist qualification has imbued his general practice with an ongoing interest in musculoskeletal health. Dr Fox also wrote an honours thesis on the use of probiotics to reduce gastrointestinal upset in children treated with antibiotics, which was published by BMJ in 2013.
A keen mountain biker and rock-climber, Dr Fox is looking forward to exploring the natural beauty of Tasmania’s east coast with his wife and son.
