Dr Shamir Alvis completed his medical training in London, United Kingdom, graduating with distinction in 2020 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). During his studies, he achieved top of his year in pre-clinical sciences, reflecting a strong academic foundation early in his career.
He undertook his foundation training across a broad range of hospital specialties, including Diabetes and Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine and COVID wards, Psychiatry, Acute Medicine, General Surgery and Emergency Medicine. This diverse experience has shaped his well-rounded clinical approach and ability to manage a wide variety of patient presentations.
Dr Alvis completed his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in December 2025. His GP training included rotations in General Practice, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Palliative Care, further strengthening his skills across all stages of life and areas of care.
He is particularly passionate about building long-term relationships with his patients, allowing him to understand them as individuals and recognise when something may not be quite right. Dr Alvis aims to practise with empathy and values shared decision-making, working collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans—especially in the management of long-term conditions and mental health.
Outside of medicine, Dr Alvis enjoys reading and watching science fiction, and stays active through regular gym sessions and climbing.
