Set at the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, on the banks of the Huon River, Huonville is a short 30 minute drive from Hobart.

Ochre Medical Centre Huonville is seeking a VR GP to join our established practice in the beautiful Huon Valley. The practice facilitates flexible, lifestyle-friendly hours while enabling you to earn a competitive income.

The practice has AGPAL accreditation and offers a mixed billing model representative of the diverse population it services. You will join an experienced team of General Practitioners, GP registrars, Registered Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, and various allied health professionals including a Diabetes Educator, Psychologist, Social Worker, and one of the first in-practice non-dispensing Clinical Pharmacists. The team works across three sites: the main practice in Huonville and branch practices nearby in Cygnet and Bruny Island.

In addition, it is an accredited teaching practice for medical students from the University of Tasmania, and GP Registrars. The practice also supports the clinical team with general practice research projects through their partners the University of Wollongong and the University of Tasmania.

The practice offers a walk-in emergency service with nurse triage. It also provides nurse-led chronic disease and wound management, along with scope for you to perform skin cancer screening clinics and minor procedures from the purpose-built procedure rooms in Huonville and Cygnet.

You will have the ability to admit patients to the rural health beds or see nursing home patients at Huon Eldercare, the residential aged care facility south of Huonville in Franklin.  HVHC nurses support you through health assessments and case conferences.
