In 2010, he completed his anaesthesiology competence certificate and subsequently entered into full time anaesthesiology post-graduate training in 2011. Following six years of intensive training, he successfully completed his doctorate in anaesthesiology with special training in intensive care in 2016.
In 2017, Dr Kumarasinghe moved from Sri Lanka to Australia with his family, initially settling in Sydney for his post-doctoral training in critical care. He worked at Campbelltown hospital as a registrar in intensive care, anaesthetics and emergency medicine until early 2020.
With nineteen years of diverse experience, Dr Kumarasinghe began practicing with Ochre Medical Centre Deniliquin as a Rural Generalist in 2020 following completion of his AMC examination and general registration in 2019.
Having a strong willingness to work in rural communities, Dr Kumarasinghe is keen to share his two decades of critical care knowledge and skills together with 12 years of general practice experience with the Deniliquin community. His strong interest in critical care and anaesthetics comes from two years spent as resident medical officer in anaesthetics in a rural coastal Sri Lankan general hospital without the supervision of a specialist amidst multiple casualties. His current goal is to become a GP specialist anaesthetist in rural Australia through the ACRRM independent pathway.
Deeptha is a father of two young daughters, and in his spare time enjoys reading, meditation and gardening.
