John started working at Huonville and Bruny Island in 2020. He’s Scottish/Irish and trained in Medicine in ‘Old’ South Wales back in 2013, before moving to Tasmania in 2016. He’s had a very varied pathway into Medicine, previously studying Aerospace and Sports Engineering, organising large adventure events, marketing for a whisky brand and owning an internet retail business.
He trained in Emergency Medicine and Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital where he saw the need for more active preventive care in the community, so is passionate about trying to keep people healthy through lifestyle and medicine. He loves the outdoors and competes in ultra endurance multisport adventure races around the world, with particular passion for mountain biking, trail running and exploring new places in Tassie. He has two boys who have hooked him into learning all about the mystery that is AFL!
