Dr Ken Dowd completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1986. He completed his internship at Dandenong Hospital, and worked within the hospital system for the next few years.

Dr Dowd entered General Practice in 1990, and worked at various practices in Victoria before relocating to Tasmania in the late 2000s.

Outside of medicine, Dr Dowd enjoys trivia competitions and collecting AFL memorabilia.
