Dr Kan completed his medical studies in NSW in 1985, and worked in a number of hospitals in both regional NSW and the UK. He has lived and worked in Lithgow since 1990, and takes a keen interest in medical education – he has been mentoring medical students for over 30 years, and has been a GP trainee supervisor for over 20 years.

Outside of medicine, his interests include photography, soccer and travel, and he is an active member of Lithgow Anglican Church.
