Dr Senaviratne obtained their medical degree in Sri Lanka in 2006. After completing an internship, she worked as a paediatric resident and went on to earn a diploma in Medical Microbiology.
After migrating to Australia, Dr Senaviratne worked as a Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) at Campbelltown Hospital for five years, gaining experience in a variety of fields, including general medicine, general surgery, geriatrics, rehabilitation medicine, emergency medicine, and paediatrics.
Dr Senaviratne is currently on the AGPT training pathway.
