The Opportunity

Ochre Medical Centre Bourke has been granted a Targeted Recruitment Position with RVTS. This is a rare and great opportunity to work in a remote town in Western NSW while starting your GP training with RVTS. We are currently in search of a Non-VR GP VMO who has a strong interest in working with First Nation people.

Ochre Health is one of Australia’s leading General Practice organisations. Founded in 2002 by Dr Hamish Meldrum and Dr Ross Lamplugh in the NSW outback town of Bourke, Ochre is the only General Practice organisation in all MMM areas, from metro to remote Australia. Ochre now supports over 450 doctors, including 90 registrars.

  • Interest in Health outcome and Chronic Disease Management
  • Participate in the VMO services at Bourke hospital. This means you will be the primary doctor for inpatients, outpatients and age care patients. Average on call shifts per year is 120 days
  • Provide GP services 5 days per week at the medical clinic (Monday to Friday)
  • Additional supervision is provided
  • Provide additional care to nursing home patients

Suitability

  • Currently hold General Registration with AHPRA
  • Permanent Residence or Australian citizen status
  • Current emergency medicine certificate (ALS, REST, etc.) and recent GP/VMO experience
