Dr Simpson graduated in medicine from Queensland University in 1991 with first class honours.
As a mature aged student, Dr Simpson’s previous work experience was with the Commonwealth Bank. During his second year in medicine, he and his wife began their family.
In 1992 they relocated to the Sunshine Coast to begin an internship at Nambour Hospital. Dr Simpson has remained on the Sunshine Coast and has worked at Caloundra, Mapleton, Montville and Maleny since then.
Dr Simpson has had a great deal of experience in medicine and at times has been a long term patient, which has given him great insight into his own patients’ experiences.
He undertook an overseas placement at the Kent and Canterbury Hospitals, where he focused on Geriatric Medicine. Dr Simpson also works regularly as an examiner for the RACGP.
Dr Simpson is well known within the community as he has served on many committees, plays the organ in the local church and is the author of several books on gardening. He also likes to play piano and sing in his band at every opportunity.
