Dr Ferney Bernal Buitrago

Dr Ferney Bernal Buitrago is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has practised medicine in Australia since 2011, working in rural and regional communities across five states and territories before joining the team in Campbell Town.

Ferney provides the full range of general practice care, including chronic disease management, mental health care, preventive health checks, immunisations, and minor skin procedures such as biopsies, lesion removal and cryotherapy. He also works as a Visiting Medical Officer at the local hospital.

Before entering general practice, Ferney worked as a hospital medical officer, including over 10 years in intensive care. He has a particular interest in acute care within general practice, which means patients who are suddenly or seriously unwell can expect calm, practical and thorough assessment close to home. He holds current Advanced Life Support accreditation (ALS2).

Ferney trained at Universidad del Valle in Colombia and is a native Spanish speaker; consultations are available in English or Spanish. Away from the clinic, he writes about medicine and clear thinking and is the author of Non-Human Humanity.
