Dr. Randee Gunaratne completed her medical degree at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2022. She also holds a Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Sri Lanka) and the Sydney Child Health Certificate.

She has a strong focus on preventive medicine and weight management, currently undertaking the SCOPE Certificate in Obesity Management (World Obesity Federation). She is an active member of the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services, the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society, and the RACGP Obesity Management Special Interest Group.

In addition Dr Gunaratnes has a close relationship with the Canberra health services obesity management services  and other local Health professionals working in this space.

Dr. Gunaratne is an advocate for “prevention is better than cure”, with special expertise in managing weight as a chronic, multifactorial condition. She runs a specialised weight management program supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team, offering tailored, non-judgmental care. Her approach includes both medical (injectable and oral therapies) and surgical referral options where appropriate.

She remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of rapidly evolving obesity and weight-management treatments, while also addressing cardiovascular, metabolic, and cancer risk reduction. In addition, she provides comprehensive care for female and reproductive health, including menopause and perimenopause, chronic diseases management and has significant experience in mental health management.
