Dr Wiles came to medicine relatively late in life, commencing his medical degree at the University of Sydney aged 49.
Following graduation he worked for several years in the emergency department of the Prince of Wales Hospital, before undertaking GP training in the country NSW town of Lockhart and working in general practice in Haberfield, Sydney.
In his spare time, Dr Wiles enjoys fishing and pottery.
