Gemma was born and raised in Tasmania and studied a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours at the University of Tasmania. She is passionate about all aspects of health, with special interest in mental health and neurodivergence. Both in and outside of work she loves to learn new things, and is currently pursuing oil painting and permaculture gardening assisted by her miniature schnauzer pup Benji.
