Dr Hashanthi Cooray graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2013. She began her medical career working in high-acuity hospital settings, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Accident Service Intensive Care Unit, where she developed strong skills in acute and critical care.

In 2018, Dr Cooray completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Elderly Medicine, further strengthening her interest in providing comprehensive care for ageing populations.

Dr Cooray moved to Australia in 2023 and has since worked in Emergency Departments at Mackay Hospital and Bowen Hospital, gaining valuable experience across a broad range of urgent and complex presentations.

She later transitioned into general practice, working in Toowoomba and Dalby. Dr Cooray is committed to delivering patient-centred care, with a focus on continuity, preventative health, and supporting patients across all stages of life.
