Dr Macmillan completed her medical degree at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 2000.
She stayed in Scotland for her junior doctor house officer year, before moving to London in 2001. She then completed medical rotations through various medical specialties before entering general practice training in 2006. She completed a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2007.
Her final two years of training in general practice were in Brighton on the South Coast of England. She completed her training in General Practice and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2009. Following this she worked in general practice in Brighton until moving to Australia in January 2014.
She is a mother to 2 young boys and enjoys long bike rides with her family, days on the beach and camping.
