Dr Megan McCracken

From the moment Dr McCracken commenced her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2008, she knew her calling was General Practice. To this day she finds great reward and satisfaction in all that encompasses General Practice: the wide variety of patient presentations, long lasting relationships built on respect and trust, the ability to influence disease course through comprehensive and wholistic care, and promoting wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle. Dr McCracken enjoys every aspect of General Practice, however, has attained additional qualifications in:

• Children’s Health (Diploma in Child Health)
• Reproductive and Sexual Health (FPAA Certificate in Reproductive Health and Sexual Health for Doctors), including IUD and Implanon insertion, and
• Skin Cancer Medicine (Professional and Advanced Certificates of Skin Cancer Medicine).
• She also works part-time in Occupational Health.

Dr McCracken grew up in the country town of Kempsey, on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Prior to commencing medicine, she served in the Royal Australian Navy as a Warfare Officer for 10 years, where she completed a Bachelor of Science (Physics). Dr McCracken moved to Canberra in 2018 and, with her Engineer partner, is raising their three young children. You’ll find them cycling or scooting around the lake, on the ski slopes, or camping and enjoying the spectacular scenery the ACT and surrounds has to offer.
