Dr King attended secondary school at Warrnambool College and graduated in medicine from Monash University in 1986.
He completed his internship and junior residency at Prince Henry’s Hospital Warrnambool, and his senior residency at Warrnambool Base Hospital in 1990, after a year off travelling.
In 1991 Dr King began practicing with the Jamieson surgery, where he would work in general practice for the next 30 years. He become a Fellow of Royal Australian College of GP after succesfully sitting their exam in 1994.
A local boy who grew up in Port Fairy, Dr King is married with three sons.
His hobbies include surfing and watching his sons play sports and perform in the arts. He loves his pets and enjoys walking his dog on the beach every night. His interests include wildlife conservation, especially of the great apes.
