Dr Shashi Weeratunga was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where she also completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Peradeniya in 2009. Following her graduation, she completed her internship, working in gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics. Dr Weeratunga went on to work as a medical officer in ophthalmology wards, paediatric outpatient departments, paediatric accident and emergency wards, and medicine and surgical wards in prominent government and private hospitals in Sri Lanka.
Dr Weeratunga has a particular interest in mindfulness and Buddhist meditation. In her free time, she enjoys dancing and singing as hobbies, and watching movies with her husband. She also cherishes spending time with her children, family, and friends.
