Shiromi has been serving as a General Practitioner in Canberra since 2013 and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Graduating from North Colombo Medical College in Sri Lanka in 1994, Shiromi developed a strong foundation in medicine, obstetrics, and gynaecology. She also holds a Diploma in Transfusion Medicine of Sri Lanka, worked as both a hospital medical officer and a general practitioner before emigrating to Australia.
She completed AMC certificate and developed a special interest in skin cancers and dermatology (skin diseases). She earned a Professional Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine and a Professional Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery with Healthcert Australia.
Shiromi’s interests also include paediatrics, women health (including antenatal care, contraceptive implant insertions/removal, cervical screening tests) and chronic disease management.
In her spare time, Dr Liyanage enjoys travelling, gardening, and spending time with her three children.
