Suran has been working in Canberra as a GP since 2013. Having completed his medical degree in 2005 in Sri Lanka, he has worked in many disciplines in medicine including Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Acute Medicine, Fertility Centre, after which he continued his passion in General Practice. He completed his Masters at Monash University, Melbourne In 2009. In addition, he completed his Advanced Diploma in Counselling Psychology with Wigan & Leigh College, UK in 2010.
He gained the Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016. Due to his keen interest in chronic disease management, he had further training in managing patients with advanced diabetes mellitus.
He had training in Dermatology, skin cancer management and surgical excision of skin cancers.
Following his training in Vancouver, Canada under Dr Neil Pollock, one of the pioneers in infant and adult circumcision procedures and vasectomy, he is one of the few GPs in Canberra who offer the most up-to-date procedures in this field. He is the owner of the Gentle Procedures Canberra Clinic, (https://gentleprocedurescanberra.com.au ) which is one of over 60 world-wide clinics which offers the most advanced procedures in this field.
In addition, he is trained in USS guided musculoskeletal injections, early pregnancy point of care ultrasound scanning, point of care USS to detect muscular tears, foreign body detection and lumps/bumps.
Suran has two boys and very much enjoys being with his family, doing various activities including travelling and adventure sports. He has a keen interest in cricket and plays competitive cricket for a local club during the weekends.
