Dr Wayne Lee is a man of many talents: as well as a doctor, he is a musician who has seen recent success as a vocalist.

Dr Wayne Lee has worked in Maleny since 2018. He joined the practice in 2021 and is delighted to continue to provide quality care for the beautiful Hinterland community.

He was born in Taiwan and grew up in the Philippines. He speaks in several tongues including English, Mandarin, Tagalog (Filipino), Taiwanese and Hokkien.

Wayne first arrived in Australia in 2011 to complete a Masters of Biotechnology at the Australian National University in Canberra. He then obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, followed by two years of rural hospital experience with Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS), working in various specialties at the Rockhampton Hospital, Gladstone Hospital and Emerald Hospital.

Wayne is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners  (FRACGP). He has also completed the Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) through the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). He is currently working towards a Certificate of Musculoskeletal Medicine through the Australian Association of Musculoskeletal Medicine (AAMM). Dr Wayne enjoys connecting with patients from all backgrounds and is passionate about learning their individual needs. He believes patients have an active role in managing their own health and is a strong advocate for patient-centered care.

Currently, he splits his time between working as a GP at Ochre Medical Centre Maleny and as a Medical Officer at the Maleny Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.

Outside of work, Wayne is a vocalist who loves to sing and perform, as he believes music is his favourite, if not best medicine.
