Skin cancer is serious - don’t let sun damage cast a shadow on making happy memories!
Has red, raw, blistered or peeling skin caused you to regret a nice day out in the summer sun? Maybe after spending time...
My name is Sara McKenzie, I am an intern currently at the Royal Hobart Hospital but will be commencing my second term as an intern at the Huon Valley Health Centre in early April. Throughout my medical degree I have always enjoyed my general practice rotations the most.
I’ve been lucky enough to have had most of my previous GP rotations in the Huon Valley from rural week in Huonville to third and forth term placements in Geeveston. I love the beautiful greenness of the area and the friendliness of the people.
Originally from Canada, I travelled to Australia over 10 years ago on a working holiday as a registered nurse and was placed in Hobart, where I was fortunate enough to meet my husband. Well I’ve had the opportunity to work in many areas of nursing, whilst working at a remote nursing post in Western Australia I realised how much more I needed to and wanted to learn- so I decided to pursue a career in medicine and haven’t looked back!
Throughout the course of my medical degree I have had two children and although we are a busy little family, when we have free time we enjoy bushwalking, camping and going to our local beach with our dog Murphy.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know the Huonville community.
