Ochre Health is pleased to announce the addition of two new practices to its growing network, with openings in New Lambton, New South Wales and Launceston, Tasmania within days of each other.
Ochre Medical Centre New Lambton officially opened on 26 May 2026, welcoming the team formerly known as New Lambton Family Practice into the Ochre network. The practice has a long and proud history in the Newcastle area, having previously operated as Elermore Vale General Practice before becoming New Lambton Family Practice under the leadership of Dr Julie Bartlett.
The practice brings together a team of 11 GPs and three nurses, offering a comprehensive clinical service with particular strengths in women’s health, sexual and reproductive medicine, skin cancer, paediatrics and mental health. The practice is also home to the Newcastle Vasectomy Clinic, which has served the Hunter community for over 20 years.
Located in the heart of the Hunter region, Ochre Medical Centre New Lambton is well placed to serve a vibrant and growing community with a strong commitment to continuity-focused, high-quality general practice care.
On 1 June 2026, Ochre Health welcomed the Newstead Medical group in Launceston, marking the organisation’s first entry into the Launceston region. The acquisition encompasses three sites: Ochre Medical Centre Newstead, Ochre Medical Centre Kings Meadows and Urgent Care Centre Launceston.
Newstead Medical has been serving the Launceston community for over 55 years. The two general practice sites formally partnered in 2019, with staff working across both locations, and together they have grown into one of the most comprehensive primary care groups in Tasmania. The Newstead site is co-located with a pharmacy, pathology, x-ray and occupational health service, providing patients with a broad range of health services under one roof.
Across the three sites, the group brings together nearly 40 GPs, a dedicated nursing team and an experienced operations and administration leadership group. The group has been built over many years by partners Dr Andrew Fair, Dr Toby Gardner and Dr Daniel Kirk. Dr Fair brings over 28 years of general practice experience with expertise in paediatrics and preventative medicine. Dr Gardner is the current Chair of RACGP Tasmania and a board director of the College, and has played a significant role in shaping GP training across the state. Dr Kirk brings particular expertise in oncology, lifestyle medicine and paediatrics.
A significant week for Ochre Health
The two openings represent a significant milestone for Ochre Health, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to partnering with experienced, community-focused practices across Australia. With these additions, Ochre continues to grow its national footprint while remaining focused on supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred general practice care in the communities it serves.
