PM Anthony Albanese and Ochre Health Launch Caloundra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic as National Network Reaches Major Milestone

Ochre Health is proud to announce the launch of the Australian Government’s newest Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Caloundra, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of accessible healthcare across Australia.

The clinic forms part of the Australian Government’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic program and contributes to the completion of the Albanese Government’s original commitment to establish an additional 50 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics nationwide in the 2025/26 financial year.

The new service will provide fully bulk-billed urgent care for patients with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions, from the 17.06.26 helping local families access timely treatment without the need for an emergency department visit.

Patrick Dwyer, Ochre Health Chief Executive Officer said we are proud to bring a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic to the Caloundra community, providing local residents and visitors with access to high quality urgent care.

“This clinic will help bridge the gap between general practice and hospital emergency departments, ensuring patients can receive timely treatment closer to home.

“In addition to our existing Urgent Care Clinic in Buderim, this will do much to remove barriers to access while alleviating pressure on nearby hospitals.”

The clinic will provide treatment for a range of urgent conditions including minor injuries, infections, wounds, burns and other non-life-threatening medical concerns.

The Little Mountain location will operate for 12 months, while a larger, purpose-built Urgent Care Clinic and Ochre Health Hub – including General Practice and onsite pathology, radiology and X-ray is built in the Aura development.

It will initially operate from 8am–5pm seven days a week at the interim location Shop 1, 65 Pierce Avenue, Little Mountain.

Extended hours from 8am-10pm will be available from mid-October 2026.

The new site at Aura is scheduled to open in July 2027, providing significant additional primary and urgent care capacity for this growing population.

Baringa, Nirimba, Banya, and Gagalba (Aura Lakes) form the core of the Aura master-planned community on the Sunshine Coast.

The broader Caloundra South region is one of Australia’s fastest-growing areas, projected to house 50,000 residents across 20,000 dwellings by 2041.
