Dr Ashleyn Smith

MBBS, BN, SCHP, FRACGP

Dr Ashleyn is a dedicated General Practitioner who completed her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) through Deakin University in 2018. The majority of her medical training took place in Ballarat, Victoria, where she was recognised as Intern of the Year in 2019.

Prior to studying medicine, Dr Ashleyn completed a Bachelor of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Ballarat Base Hospital. She furthered her paediatric studies in 2021 by completing the Sydney Child Health Program (formerly known as the Diploma of Child Health).

Dr Ashleyn has a special interest in medical weight management and has been SCOPE Certified by the World Obesity Federation since 2022. She has also completed both the Professional and Advanced Certificates of Medical Nutrition and is in the final stages of her Master of Medicine (Metabolic Health) through the University of Sydney. Her postgraduate studies focus on obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

To provide comprehensive care in this complex area of medicine, Dr Ashleyn offers extended initial consultations and regular follow-up appointments for patients seeking support in higher weight management.

Dr Ashleyn values the time and commitments of her patients. To ensure quality care for all, patients who arrive late may be asked to reschedule their appointment.

At present, Dr Ashleyn does not perform skin checks or contraceptive implant insertion and encourages patients seeking these services to book with another doctor within the practice whom provide these services.

Outside of work, Dr Ashleyn is a keen table-top gamer and photographer, enjoys walking her boisterous Labrador with her husband and has attempted to start long-distance running. Being Victorian by birth and only exposed to AFL, she apologies for not knowing anything about rugby.
