Dr Thompson is currently the Medical Co-ordinator at Ochre Garran. He completed his medical degree in Qld and his pre-Fellowship training at Canberra Hospital and Calvary Hospitals. He achieved specialist recognition by earning his Fellowship of RACGP in 2020.

His interest in General Practice stems from his background in education, practicing primary preventative medicine, educating patients and care-givers, providing continuity of care, and enjoying the variety General practice provides.

Dr Thompson has a particular interest in Men’s health, Mental health and Sports Medicine. He has an interest in concussion assessments, management and post-concussion clearance for return to sport and activity. He has been providing assessments to a number of local sporting clubs, particularly Australian Rules Football teams from the Ainslie & Belconnen football clubs. 

He has also recently commenced work as Sports Dr on game days for the GWS Giants Men’s & Women’s Academy Programs, and was recently the Team Doctor for the successful U18 Australian Women’s Basketball Team at FIBA Asian Championships. 

Dr Thompson enjoys all sports, particularly cricket and Australian Rules. He likes to remain active, enjoying travel and sharing time with good friends and family. He has represented ACT & Australia in Javelin and continues to enjoy the challenge it provides, training at the AIS during the week with a specialist coach.
